Sheridan wins contract with Kilmarnock

Bailieborough man Cillian Sheridan has signed a two-year contract with Kilmarnock after his departure from CSKA Sofia. The move went through yesterday afternoon. The 23-year-old spent last season on loan to St Johnstone and agreed to leave the Bulgarians last month as the club suffered financial problems. Sheridan started his senior career with Celtic, who loaned him to Motherwell, Plymouth Argyle and Saints. On leaving Celtic in 2010, he signed a three-year deal with CSKA. However, Sheridan fell out of favour following a change in management and had trials with Seattle Sounders and Portland Timbers in the United States. Sheridan, who has three international caps, scored five goals in 32 appearances for St Johnston last season, forming a much-praised partnership with Francisco Sandaza, the Spaniard who this summer moved to Rangers. Sheridan played for the Perth side twice against Kilmarnock last season, scoring in a 2-1 win at Rugby Park.
